A lot of people have relaxing or hanging out in Starbucks in their routine. However, one question rises among pregnant women. Is it safe for me to drink coffee?
;
Pregnant women should be careful with the amount of coffee they drink. And yes, coffee lovers can celebrate, you can still drink coffee. However, it is suggested that they take not more than 200 milligrams per day.
How does coffee affect my baby?
Some pregnant moms give up coffee because they think that it makes their child hyper or that they will get attention or emotional issues. Well, this myth is busted because apparently drinking coffee will not result to these issues. But pregnant moms, please be careful! Do not neglect the amount you're limited to drink because drinking too much coffee increases the risks of miscarriage.
Please take note that caffeine is also present in soft drinks and chocolates! You may also have to cut down with these things a bit.
Can I drink coffee when breastfeeding?
The answer is still the same: Don't drink too much. It usually takes 20-30 minutes for a small amount of caffeine (from all the coffee you consumed) to be delivered to your breast milk through your bloodstream, which means your baby will also consume that small amount of coffee. The thing is that babies can't handle coffee very well if they are very young (about 3-6 months below). When your baby gets older, his body becomes more able to excrete coffee. So the best time to drink coffee is after breastfeeding.
Drinking two to three cups of coffee causes your baby to sleep less. That means you also sleep less, and you don't want that to happen.
So yes, you can still drink coffee but please remember not to drink too much. :)
